AA Euro Travel Currency MasterCard Prepaid Card
AA Financial services, has just introduced a new prepaid card to its financial portfolio.
This card is one of the first prepaid cards to offer a reward system to users, and comes at a time when the Sterling to Euro exchange rate offers UK holiday makers very little comfort.
A survey of 16,000 AA members showed that many families are cutting back on holiday spending because of the economic situation, with 56% changing their holiday plans, 25% taking holidays in Europe instead of further afield and another 25% saying they’ll take cheaper holidays outside the UK.
The AA’s new prepaid card is loaded with Euros, and allows families to make savings on holiday spending because they can avoid exchange rate charges being made when they make purchases. Offering a secure alternative to carrying cash, there are no transaction fees when you spend in Euros, and withdrawing Euros 50 or more from ATMs is also free. As well as all this, you get to earn reward points as well.
Every purchase you make earns you points that you can later exchange for a wide range of goods, vouchers, AA products and services, or even cashback. You even get double points on some things for example fuel bought in Europe, and AA members receive twice the earn rate of non AA members.
The card will cost you £9.95 to buy, but you get this credited back to you when you load the card with your first £100 worth of Euros. Cardholders also automatically get a linked online account which holds Euros exchanged from Sterling, and balances can be checked online or by text message. The card can be topped up for free from the linked internet account, or by text message, and everyone age 18 or over can get one as there are no credit checks involved.
AA Financial services has also added a Sterling card to its prepaid travel card range as well.
