Caxton Prepaid Card
The Caxton FX Prepaid card is provided as you may have guessed by Caxton FX one of Europe’s leading foreign exchange companies. With their background it’s not surprising to find that the Caxton FX Prepaid card is designed primarily for use when travelling. Actually, Caxton has three different prepaid cards available, the Euro card, the Dollar card, and the Global card.
For people who are travelling within Europe, the Euro card is designed to give great value. When you load the card, you lock in the exchange rate at that moment, and from there on, it’s simple.
There are no ATM charges when in Europe, no fees, commission or additional charges on your transactions – so if you spend E80 on a meal in Paris then that is what comes off your card nothing more.
If you are going to be travelling around America, then the Dollar card might be the best card for you.
With this, you aren’t charged ATM fees when you’re in America, there are no fees, commission or extra charges when you make purchases in Dollars, so like with the Euro card, if you buy something, then the price it costs is the price you pay, and again, when you load the card, you lock in the exchange rate, so you always know where you stand.
The third card that is available is the Global card, and this one is ideal for people who are looking at travelling around the world to a variety of places including those outside Europe or America. With this third card, there are no ATM charges when you are overseas, and no commission, or extra charges on any of your transactions. When you load money onto your card, it remains in Sterling at all times, and funds are converted to the appropriate currency at the time of your purchase or when you use an ATM. This gives you the flexibility to use the card anywhere in the world where MasterCard is accepted, and the exchange rate applied is fixed at 2.5% from the prevailing interbank rate.
With all three cards, they can be used anywhere that the MasterCard acceptance mark is found, all of them are Chip and PIN secure, and all can be loaded with money using your UK debit card either online, over the phone, or by text. If you wish, there is nothing to stop you having more than one card either.
Because this group of cards is primarily designed for use abroad, if you do choose to use it in the UK, that’s fine, but there are slightly more charges that apply, for example drawing money from an ATM in the UK using these cards will incur a fee.
